Meet Steve

In 2005 I founded Clearpoint, a Holistic Retreat and Education Center. My intention was to discover what really works in alternative health modalities. When I experienced my first Native American Sweat lodge I knew that I discovered something special. It was the most complete holistic health practice that I came across.

I learned that cultures spanning the globe had their own sweat bath practices. I became quite fond of the Nordic styles. The adorable outdoor buildings, incorporation of nature and that special way of bringing people together. I also appreciated the good brew and barbecue that is often associated with Traditional Sauna.

In my wellness journey I became an Ayurveda Educator, which is the sister science to Yoga. In this ancient healthcare practice it is believed that our bodies are made up of the five elements of Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Ether. Which made perfect sense to me, what is out there is also inside of us. That we enjoy an intricate relationship with nature and imbalance is often the result of our disconnect from nature's healing vibes.

In Traditional Sauna it's a complete immersion in the elements. We build fire, pour water to make steam, walk barefoot upon the earth, take forest baths and often explore matters of the heart. It's a calling to slow down our lives and reconnect to what matters most to us.

In the past few years, a lot of research has been conducted on Sauna or what's called Contrast Therapy. The practice of hot, cold, relax and repeat has profound health benefits. Not only physically but mentally.

Today there's an epidemic of loneliness, we don't hang out like we used to and that can leave people feeling pretty anxious and depressed.

That's why Sauna Keepers was born, to bring people together for what I call an active leisure practice. It's not a one off type of thing, this is an elevated lifestyle practice that can truly change your life.
